Kenzie Spoorenberg
Kenzie Spoorenberg's journey as a young climber is both inspiring and impressive! Starting bouldering in October 2022 at Project Climb Cloverdale in Surrey, BC, she has rapidly integrated into the climbing community there. Her dedication and passion were evident enough that she joined the competition team by the end of the 2022/2023 season, clearly demonstrating her commitment and skill in climbing.
Her involvement in the climbing community and her ability to embrace the sport so fully at a young age is remarkable. The fact that she spends all her available time either training in the gym or exploring the beautiful natural landscape of British Columbia shows her deep connection to the sport. Moreover, her experience free soloing over open water around Desolation Sound last summer adds an adventurous aspect to her climbing, highlighting her growing expertise and bold spirit.
This type of climbing journey not only enhances her physical capabilities but also nurtures a strong sense of community and belonging, as she is supported by fellow climbers, family and mentors. Kenzie's story is a wonderful example of how young athletes can quickly develop profound skills and find a passion that drives them, both competitively and recreationally. It’s exciting to think about what the future holds for her in climbing!
